Once all relevant items have been selected, the user can press the ‘Finish & pay’ button at the bottom of the screen.

Assuming that there are no issues with the transaction, a simple ‘Transaction complete’ message will be displayed. This message will stay on screen for a few seconds, or until the user presses the green ‘OK’ button.

Dealing with issues

Occasionally, there will be issues with the transaction; in these instances, the checkout will automatically request assistance. In these circumstances, the transaction will not be completed, the user cannot dismiss the assistance request (like they can when they press the ‘Need help’ button, and an operator must intervene by logging in and dealing with the issues presented in the operator menu. Reasons that a kiosk will request assistance are:

  • The user has insufficient funds to complete the transaction
  • The user has gone over their break/daily spend limit
  • The user has attempted to purchase an item they are known to be allergic to
  • The user has attempted to purchase an item they are restricted from buying
  • The checkout has initiated a random spot check

For more information on how to deal with these issues, please see the ‘Operator mode’ section of this manual.
