The operator mode gives staff members supervising the Self-Service Checkouts functionality to deal with issues as they arise.
Accessing the operator mode
There are a couple of methods to access operator mode. The functionality available will also vary depending on when the operator mode was accessed. For example, accessing the operator from the home/available screen will allow you to perform user searches and lock the checkout, whereas these options are not available if accessing operator mode while a transaction is in progress.
Pressing the ‘Need help’ button
Pressing the ‘Need help’ button will trigger the kiosk to request assistance and presents a message to the user that an operator is on their way. From the message on screen, the operator can press the ‘Login’ button to log in by entering their PIN or using an alternative method like a registered card/fingerprint.
Use the CRBC logo/icon in the top left of the screen
No matter which screen you are on, you can access the operator mode by tapping on the CRBC icon 5 times within 2 seconds. This is useful for when the kiosk is in ‘Advanced sale mode’ and the ‘Need Help’ button is not present. Then press the ‘Login’ button to log in by entering their PIN or using an alternative method like a registered card/fingerprint.
Kiosk has triggered an assistance request
When the kiosk automatically triggers an assistance request (for example when a user does not have enough funds, or a random spot check is triggered) the ‘Operator is on their way’ message will also be displayed for the operator to press the ‘Login’ button and then authenticate themselves.
Operator mode functions
As mentioned previously, when accessing operator mode, different functions will be available depending on the current context. The below table provides an overview of the functionality and each will be covered in more detail in additional sections of this manual.
